Fall into arts at ‘JC Fridays’ A citywide day of free art, performances on Sept. 5

Celebrate Jersey City’s fall “JC Fridays,” a free all-day event of art, music, dance, photography, theater, film, performances, and more at locations in Jersey City on Friday, Sept. 5.

“JC Fridays” has doubled in size from its start over three years ago, and is held quarterly at the change of every season – every September, December, March, and June.

This “Friday” includes 40 free events and performances to choose from.

In your neighborhood

“JC Fridays” have spread to areas outside of the downtown area with the help of two new sponsors – the state of New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone program and the Jersey City Department of Housing, Economic Development, and Commerce.

Christine Goodman, director/founder of Art House Productions, helped shape this much anticipated annual event and has received numerous awards for her work including a proclamation from Mayor Healy.

At the third anniversary bash on June 6, over 1,500 people came to the event.

The next “Friday” after this one is scheduled for Dec. 5.

Citywide events all day

On Friday, Sept. 5, the activities start at 6:30 a.m. and run past midnight.

Maps will be available at event locations and visitors are encouraged to design their own tour.

This “Friday” will feature plenty of live music including: pop music at Piersanti studios, rock (The Milwaukees) at the Grove St. PATH station, DJ music at Railroad Studios, jazz at the Pointe and Liberty House, Cuban music at Azucar Bar, acoustic music at the Tattoo Co., the original rock of Marianne Nowottny at Another Man’s Treasure, and rock at J. Owen Grundy Park.

Locals can enjoy free wine and cheese receptions throughout the city including at: Cosi Café, World of Style, Habib Ayat Studio, HDSID, and others. Additionally, many of the participants have specials and surprises in store for visitors.

But those are just a few of the highlights. For complete list of times and events, see sidebar. There are several family-friendly events, plus information on venues that have handicap access. Visit: www.jcfridays.com for details.
