Frantic Friday full of frolic Jersey City Studio Art Tour and Oktoberfest bring thousands of visitors

Friday, Oct. 5, saw Jersey City become the land of art and beer.

That’s when the 17th Annual Jersey City Artists’ Studio Tour kicked off at CANCO Lofts on Dey Street near Journal Square.

It was also when Oktoberfest, a beer-soaked celebration on Grove Street, took place.During the Artists’ Studio Tour, held from Oct. 6-7, thousands viewed the works of over 500 artists displayed across the city in various shows. The tour was sponsored by the Hudson Reporter, the City of Jersey City, Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Jersey City Division of Cultural Affairs, the Jersey City Municipal Council and Pro Arts.

Hundreds also took part in the city’s second Annual Oktoberfest. The festival kicked off with a two-block parade featuring Mayor Jerramiah Healy, public officials, and guests. The parade ended in front of Bar Majestic at 275 Grove St. The celebration was organized by developers Eric and Paul Silverman, owners of the Bar Majestic. The celebration included an oompah band, beer garden, German cuisine, and fabulous Bavarian-costumed ladies. All proceeds were donated to Hudson County CASA, a group that provides volunteer advocates to children in the social services system.
