Two political shills at war

Dear Editor:

It seems that the saying “The more things change the more they stay the same”, is very much alive in Secaucus. I refer to the newspaper story that alleged “terroristic” threats made by a Secaucus schoolteacher (James Clancy, Sr.) to town recreation employees (John Schwartz and John Voli.) Apparently after the last town council meeting, Feb. 13th, it is alleged Mr. Clancy threatened the town employees for being on the “wrong” political side.

What I found interesting is that although this confrontation took place outside the council chambers (in close vicinity to the police station) why wait until the next day to file a police report? Could it be there was an overnight decision involving Anthony Iacono who supposedly said “hello” to someone named “Jim” which Mr. Clancy may have misinterpreted as Mr. Clancy addressing him that started all this? I think not.

I ask this simple question: does this or does this not reek of politics with the Iacono footprint ever present? According to the news story Anthony Iacono has a personal attorney looking into this matter and will determine what action he will take “depending on what happens in court” (as to the Clancy-Schwartz-Voli fiasco). Wow, political fear tactics at its worse.

I have personal recollections of similar political fear tactics being employed when Iacono was shilling for “Team Just” and the “Team Elwell” and James Clancy, Sr. was shilling for Anthony Impreveduto, Paul Amico, Elwell and now doing the bidding for Mike Gonnelli. One thing is very clear, the more things change the more they stay the same, at least in Secaucus they do. Sides change so fast you sometimes need a scorecard to see who’s with whom.

I now wait with baited breath to hear the Clancy side of this sage. “Team Gonnelli” has had sufficient time to “advise” Clancy how best to handle this matter politically.

I learned that in politics what begins in fear usually ends up in folly.
