What is Poetry?

Poetry proposes,
Also sets minds free,
Gets one to express the self,
Teaches human’s they’re awe.

Poetry confesses,
Confuses and undresses,
Human hearts, politics,
The arts and cross dressers!

Poetry paints beauty,
Ugliness we abhor,
Gainfully points to a truth,
Which is always a revolving door.

Poetry unveils hearts,
Ceiling our refrain,
Floats us in past moments,
Congealing all our pain.

Poetry plays peek-a-boo
With an author’s mind,
Hides disguised in the hue,
It gnaws! It breeds! It’s hard!

Poetry is fairness,
No wrong just write for all,
Environments in verbiage cheer,
Let you out! Voice it! RAW!

Poetry’s efficient,
Chooses less to say more,
A lifetime job to unvest,
Is a poet’s core. – Kate Kaiser

Kate Kaiser is the author of a memoir, Cowgirl Widow.
