Inside the Ring The wrestling world is about to turn

The next month will be a huge adventure for wrestling fans worldwide. On Oct. 3, WWE Raw will re-debut on the USA Network for what should be one of the most entertaining moments in wrestling. Then we move on to Oct. 1 for the debut of NwA-TnA on Spike TV. If you are a wrestling fan, now is the time to get excited again.

Scheduled to appear on the USA’s first WWE Raw will be a list that will not disappoint. The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley, HHH, and Stone Cold Steve Austin will all be appearing on the show. Rumors are also running rampant that there may be a Brock Lesnar sighting as well (he was seen with some WWE wrestlers this past week).

As for the debut of TnA on Spike TV, well they are being tight-lipped about who will be on the show. The plan, from what the Sixshooter is hearing, is to do an invasion angle based with all the former WWE talent they have signed recently. That talent list includes the Dudleys, Jackie Gayda, Charlie Haas, Gail Kim, Shannon Moore, Billy Kidman, and perhaps Chris Jericho.

That’s right, folks, Chris Jericho is a free agent. He walked away from the WWE last week without resigning a contract so he is free to do whatever he likes. Right now there is no word on if he will just sit out of wrestling for a while or try to headline TnA. With guys like AJ Styles, Kevin Nash, Jeff Jarrett, and Raven aboard already TnA might have something brewing.

The TnA Impact show will have two time slots. It will be aired on Saturdays after UFC events at 11 p.m. It will also be airing on Mondays at midnight. The show has been picked up for 52 weeks, but if ratings do well there has been a much talked about move to Monday night.

As for other supposed comings and goings, there has been a lot of movement recently. Dusty Rhodes was recently hired to the WWE creative team to start things off. An interesting move to say the least, he was let go by TnA after his storylines were considered nonsensical. Seems like he will fit right into the WWE.

The Legendary Bret Hart has been in negotiations with TnA to be on the opening addition of Impact on Spike. He did sign a deal to do a DVD with the WWE last month, but they could not reach an agreement for him to show up on live TV. TnA originally wanted Mick Foley, but the former WWE champion decided to sign back to the active WWE roster.

Sting has been asked to appear for TnA as well, but has not gotten back to management as of yet. The red carpet will be rolled out to anyone with star power for the first show. TnA needs to show off its young talent, but having some older stars will get the casual fan to tune in.

The WWE is interested in signing Xpac to a new contract. They liked his work against Jerry Lynn on the last TnA PPV and have had him in Connecticut for discussions. He is working on a verbal agreement with TnA at the moment so he can sign with the WWE if he so chooses. In my mind that would be a bad move considering TnA really likes his in- and out-of-the-ring work. In the WWE he will just be a background guy.

Scott Steiner had his first match after recovering from surgery for a drop toe problem that cost him ring time in the WWE. Supposedly he looked pretty good. Perhaps TnA will come calling. As for another former WWE superstar, Maven, he recently decided to retire from the wrestling world and pursue a career in acting. Good luck Maven, you will need it.

The questions that the Sixshooter has for the WWE this week are simple: Why is it that I am supposed to take Snitzky, Heidenreich or Tyson Tompko seriously? If they have been continuously scrubbed out, why are they now good? Where is this Hardy/Edge storyline going? And isn’t it a little weird watching this thing pan out? What type of workout plan has Lita been on?

Where is Trish Stratus? And why does she still have the women’s belt after missing three months? Who are the tag champs? Why am I supposed to forget that Lance Cade used to be Garrison Cade? And who is that bum wrestling with him? Is it HHH’s turn to win the title yet or what?

Well that is all for this month Sixshooter-a-holics. Make sure to check my Web site frequently. I do update. You can check the Sixshooter out on the Web at http://www.expage.com/mattygsite. And remember this month’s favorite line by the 4 Horsemen, “We’re not nice guys, we don’t wear white hats.”
