Inside the Ring Bret Hart makes a comeback

Something that was thought impossible has become reality. The WWE and Bret Hart have come to terms on a new deal. Initial reports are still sketchy, but word is that Hart and Vince McMahon met last week at WWE headquarters and agreed on a new contract. The WWE will be producing a new DVD based on Hart’s career and wanted him to be fully involved.

For those of you who do not know or remember the back story, Bret Hart was wrongfully embarrassed on a PPV by McMahon. Bret Hart was going to WCW, everyone knew of this. He was set to face Shawn Michaels at a PPV in Canada. He did not want to lose the belt there and agreed to lose it the next night on Raw.

Well, McMahon decided to unprofessionally take matters into his own hands and ended the match early, giving Michaels the win. What happened afterwards backstage is why the two have not spoken since. Bret Hart, who was shaken up by this occurrence, decided to get real. Hart punched McMahon square in the jaw and was never around the WWE again.

Now the WWE has decided to overlook the past to bring back Hart. There is no word on whether Hart will be involved on television, but the Sixshooter has heard that he will somehow play a part in the Michaels/Hogan feud. Hart is no longer able to wrestle a full schedule due to head injuries, but he can get involved on some level.

As for other happenings, the WWE has decided to pull the plug totally on the Muhammed Hasan character due to pressure from mainstream media. That was definitely a good move on their part. The character not only was bad for ratings, it just gave off the wrong light of the WWE, especially with Sept. 11 anniversary coming up.

The first feature film produced by the WWE has officially wrapped up. “The Marine,” starring John Cena, has begun screen testing. Word is that the reviews so far have been positive and that the WWE might have a hit on their hands. John Cena is being talked about as a quality action star. Not quite the Rock yet, but you never know.

As for NwA-Tna, they have begun preparation with Spike TV over the launching of their new Saturday night show. “Impact” will be shown on Spike TV come this fall. Expect to see some heavy advertising on Raw in the next couple of weeks. That should not make Mr. McMahon too happy.

The plan for TnA is to show off the talent of their wrestlers. The wrestling that they produce is on another level to that of the WWE. Not that some of the WWE wrestlers could not do similar things, but the WWE just does not believe in taking too many risks. We will see if that thinking stays when the competition starts up on a major network. As for some WWE storyline news, look for HHH and Ric Flair to come back soon. Word is that HHH is pushing for a feud with Flair. The Sixshooter would love to see Flair get a run as a top guy for a little bit, but how will HHH make him look? Will it be a joke? Will he run the Flair character into the ground?

Some other questions that the Sixshooter would like answered on WWE television are as follows: Where are the tag belts? Why are they on Rosie and Hurricane if they never plan to wrestle? Do you remember when tag teams had actual names? What is up with the new Rob “Con Man” Conway character? Is that not the biggest rip off of Buff Bagwell ever? And why not just get Buff Bagwell to do it? How did the writers tell Scott Steiner they had nothing for him? Do you really care about this Lita/Hardy/Edge thing anymore? Did you ever really? How about Hogan? How odd is it having to see the old Hogan character out there every night? Can they just turn him bad already and do the N.W.O. again?

Those were just some thoughts the Sixshooter thinks need to be addressed. Have any thoughts that you think should be addressed? Make sure to check the Sixshooter out on the Web at http://www.expage.com/mattygsite and tell the Sixshooter what you think and in my next article your comments will be posted.

That’s all for this month Sixshooter-a-holics, remember to check in on the Web site from time to time for updates on wrestling news. As I leave, remember the famous Mick Foley quote, “If there is a heaven I’m going to climb to the very top and drop an elbow to the world.”
