An old Yiddish Proverb once claimed, “Better an ounce of luck than a pound of gold.”
But for young Jada Nicole Cosme, born at 5:23 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, to a family living in the Bergen Point section of Bayonne, she may have a bit of both.
Jada Nicole has been named the winner of the Bayonne Community News sponsored 2005 first baby contest.
Jada Nicole, born at Bayonne Medical Center, weighed 5 pounds 10 ounces at time of birth. The delivery was performed by Dr. Marco Pelosi.
Jada Nicole is the second girl born to Eric and Cynthia Cosme, who have been residents of Bayonne for about ten years.
“This is really something,” said Eric Cosme during the shooting of Jada Nicole’s photograph last week as Jada Nicole’s five-year-old sister, Anyssa, looked down into the crib.
Although peaceful Jada Nicole remaining asleep for most of the photo shoot, she woke briefly, gave a small smile and folded her hands, as the proud parents stood nearby smiling at the infant’s luck. Both parents declined to be included in the picture taking.
Cynthia works at a teacher’s assistant in the Jersey City School District. Eric operates a home based business. Cynthia and Eric will share the chore of raising the child as both continue to work their respective jobs.
“This is very exciting to have her win,” Cynthia said, when she heard the news that Jada Nicole was named the winner of this year’s Bayonne Community News sponsored contest.
John and Maritza Camilo, of Jersey City are Jada Nicole’s grandparents.
