Union City school statistics are a disgrace

Dear Editor:

I just wanted to comment on the State School Vandalism & Violence report card. It was a very good and informative report to know what a great job our elected officials and “appointed” school board is doing!

This is a disgrace on what our kids have to endure, and the monies that are spent in our school system are being wasted. That is all Union City needs, “more schools!” Our elected officials and (Union City’s finest?) can’t keep the schools we now have under control. Where is all this so-called security and quality of life here in our schools and in Union City that they’re always talking about? Please it’s not going to get any better, you’ll see. Example here on my block 37th St. where I have been living for over 30 years, in the last two weeks there have been three burglaries that I know of. Who knows how many more there were in the surrounding area?

I now see why 80 percent of our public servants “do not live” or want to send their kids to schools in Union City, they see and know what is taken place.

They just grab our tax dollars and their exuberant salaries and run to the suburbs. Again great info, UC seems first in “Vandalism & Violence”, keep up the good work. The public and taxpayers should and need to know how their tax dollars are being wasted. So much for the job our “appointed” school board is doing. “Me, Myself & I.” This is only one of the reasons why we need an “elected” school board. I hope the voters smarten up before it’s too late.
