Thursday, July 1:

Aggressive Jersey indie/punk band Escape Engine plays Maxwell’s with We’re All Broken and Race the Sun, starting at 8:30 p.m., $7. The Baja in Jersey City has salsa night with local band Sammy and his Group, starting at 9 p.m. The Whiskey Bar has Mynus Kris at 9 p.m., Exit 8 at 10 p.m., and Shaking Tree at 11 p.m.Friday, July 2:

Instant Death (featuring Dave Dreiwitz, the bassist from Ween) plays Uncle Joe’s with Chris Hartford and The Secret Government. Maxwell’s has rockabilly pioneer Hasil Adkins and Dexter Romweber, starting at 9:30, $10. Greg Aulden performs at the Baja in Jersey City starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday, July 3:

Maxwell’s has a benefit for the music fanzine Jersey Beat with Ted Leo, Hero Pattern, Tris McCall and the New Jack Trippers, and Jim Testa and the Charleston Chews, starting at 9 p.m., $8. New York band Heston Rifle plays Uncle Joe’s in Jersey City. McMahon’s Brownstone Ale House has DJ Jay from 104.3.

Sunday, July 4:

Maxwell’s has the “Fifth Beatle” Pete Best and his band playing two shows – 7p.m. and 10 p.m., $20. Each show will be followed by an autograph session. It’s open-mic night at Oddfellows Rest in Hoboken, hosted by Michael and Michelle, 8 p.m. P.J. Ryan’s in Jersey City has karaoke starting at 8:30 p.m.

Monday, July 5:

It’s happy hour all night at Oddfellows in Hoboken and Jersey City. Rodeo-Ristra has poetry by Rich Hemmings at its Welcomed Words poetry open-mic night, 8 p.m. And it’s comedy night at O’Donoghue’s, no cover.

Tuesday, July 6:

Oddfellows in Jersey City has karaoke starting at 9 p.m., fueled by an all-night beer special. The Whiskey Bar has Center at 9 p.m. and Jesse Gage at 10 p.m. And it’s Ski Club Night at Willie McBride’s, starting at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, July 7:

Maxwell’s has British-born, Seattle-based folk rocker John Wesley Harding with Scott McCaughey, Dag Juhlin, and The Mendoza Line, 8:30 p.m., $10. Oddfellows in Hoboken has karaoke starting at 8 p.m., along with $4 Hurricanes all night. And it’s Swing Night at Willie McBride’s, starting at 7 p.m.
