Quality of life keeps getting better thanks to Mayor Roberts & his administration

Dear Editor:

I would like to voice my opinion about several quality of life issues, which the administration of Mayor David Roberts has successfully addressed over the past three years. As a retired Fire Captain, I would like to applaud Mayor Roberts for his foresight and dedication to the Fire Department by providing significant physical upgrades in equipment and programs. Most significant is the acquisition of four new fire vehicles which allows the Department to better serve our growing community, and the certification of our HAZMAT unit, the first in the city’s history. Mayor Roberts has stayed close to his roots within the Fire Department to enhance public safety for all Hoboken residents.

Equally as important, this administration has stayed true to its promise to increase recreational opportunities, especially those benefiting our children. This quality of life initiative was seen through the city’s offering of free ice skating this past winter and the opportunity for free swimming this summer. The Little League Field has been re-sodded and the field house renovated. There is a strong commitment to the development of Pier C Park, and we have reaped the benefits of the restored soccer field and the skate board park.

Hoboken is moving forward and our citizens are benefiting from this progress. Thanks to a unified effort, buoyed by the support of the State Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Bernard F. Kenny, Jr., we have greatly prospered through state programs, like Green Acres funding and other state-sponsored economic benefits.

Teamwork is the answer to much of our needs, and this spirit is a focal point of this administration. Together we work for a common good, and this can only serve to improve the quality of life for all residents.
