Dear Editor:
As a community activist I often criticize the systematic abuses I am privy to. Therefore when the system does it right they should be equally credited.
When I discuss Judge D’Italia it is the highest form of praise. I had the opportunity to meet the Judge at an affair at N.J.C.U. where I told him I believe him to be the most honest judge I have yet to meet (I’ve encountered many.) I have yet to see a decision made by him based on anything other than merit. This is particularly important in Hudson County, studied in Harvard for is corrupt nature.
,br> I urge State Senator Cunningham to enter the upcoming discussions concerning who will be the next Chief Assignment Judge as well as State Chief Justice Poritz as the integrity of the entire system may be at stake.
You can never replace a judge like the Honorable Judge D’Italia but there are those who’s principal exceeds political entanglement which seriously undermines the credibility of the entire legal system. You know what you must do. I am sure you will do it with diligence and integrity As an African American, all too familiar with systematic abuse, when judges like Judge D’Italia retires, a chill runs down my spine. I however realize that the gauntlet must be passed.
Good luck Judge. Be well. Know that the sacrifices of your integrity are duly noted by the community at large. For a crook like Schundler to have attempted to impune your legacy is like the devil talking down to Moses.
