Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays, June 8-27, at the company’s Main Stage in Madison. The play is a classic romantic comedy in which four young men vow to avoid the ladies and dedicate themselves to scholarly pursuits. Adamson’s Holofernes is a laughable Latin teacher. Here’s your chance to hear the Queens poet laureate without crossing the Hudson or the East River. Ishle Yi Park, a spoken-word artist who’s been featured on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, headlines the season finale of the Art House in Jersey City. The performance begins at 7:45 p.m. this Thursday, June 3, at Victory Hall Cultural Center, 186 Grand St. Bradley True is the musical guest. You won’t believe the gemlike gardens that hide behind some of Hoboken’s brownstones. Join the seventh annual tour of Hoboken’s Secret Gardens for a peek. Guided walking tours take place this Sunday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tours leave every half hour from the Hoboken Historical Museum. Advance tickets are $15 and are available at the museum (1301 Hudson St.), Amanda’s Restaurant (908 Washington St.), and Empire Coffee & Tea (231 Washington St.). The Frozen Monkey Café will showcase the artwork of Ted Jaslow, Katharina Castiblanco Grammer, Keith White, and Pat Rocco starting on Thursday, June 3. The exhibit, Artists from the Silk Mill, will feature paintings and sculptures by the artists, all of whom have studios at the Silk Mill on 39th Street in Union City. The opening reception will start at 8 p.m. with live music by FMB, and the exhibit will be on display until July 14. The Frozen Monkey Café is located at 526 Washington St., Hoboken.

Still mourning the loss of Friends? Then check out the new musical Personals, brought to you by the creators of the hit television show. The Hudson Theatre Ensemble, a professional community theatre currently in its fourth season, will perform the play – a musical comedy about the dating scene – at the Hudson School Performance Space at 601 Park Ave. in Hoboken. Personals will be staged on Friday, June 4 and June 11 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, June 5 and June 12 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 6 and June 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 for general admission, and $12 for seniors and students. Schola Cantorum on Hudson, a 32-voice choral ensemble based in downtown Jersey City, will present Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana on Sunday, June 6, at 4 p.m. Conducted by Artistic Director Deborah Simpkin King, the concert will be held at St. Michael’s Church, Parish of the Resurrection, on 252 Ninth St. in Jersey City. Tickets, sold at the door, are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors and full-time students. The Monroe Center for the Arts will feature artists directly selling their work to the public on Sunday, June 6. Photography, jewelry, silks, quilts, weavings, and more will be available for purchase, and guest artists will also be exhibiting and performing throughout the building. Hours are from noon to 5 p.m., and there is no admission fee. Free parking is available behind the Monroe Center for the Arts, located on 720 Monroe St. in Hoboken. “What fools these mortals be” who miss the Hudson Shakespeare Company’s performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on June 3 in Jersey City’s Hamilton Park, on Eighth Street and Jersey Avenue. An additional performance will take place in Hoboken’s Pier A Park, at First and River streets, on June 7. Both performances will begin at 7 p.m., and admission is free.
