How long will this ‘investigation’ take?

Dear Editor:

By no means do I question the need to investigate the allegations as to what took place on April 25, 2004 at the North End Firehouse that resulted in gay bashing charges being filed.

By no means do I question the need of the calling of this investigation by Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell.

Lastly, and by no means do I question the conducting of this investigation by the Secaucus Police Department, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the State Attorney General Office. This matter could be prosecuted under the state’s anti-bias laws. All must be involved.

What I do question is that when there was a need to investigate the allegations to what may have taken place March of 2003 regarding “Billboard” deals being raised in Secaucus by the Philadelphia Inquirer, no investigation was pushed by any of the parties now pushing the investigation of the bias claims/charges. Why was there no rush to investigate back then?

How long will it take for the investigation process by all parties involved in the April 25, 2004 matter? Will it be a smoldering process? We still haven’t heard the results of the investigation regarding the library’s billboard deal and those in Secaucus who brokered that “deal.” That’s going back to August of 2001.
