What can we do about vomit and poo?

Dear Editor:

The following letter was written to Mayor Roberts:

As a life-long resident of Hoboken and a very concerned citizen, I am writing you this letter hoping that some of this information can bring about a solution to a problem that is seriously out of control.

Since my parents passed away, I now fully understand some of the very difficult problems “property owners” face every single day. Whether you are a property owner or just rent, this matter concerns all of us.

It seems pet owners have become very lax when it comes to cleaning up after their pets. The sidewalks are full of dog feces, and as people walk the streets, they step into it, track it into the house or car, and this is disgusting and very unsanitary. The disposal of the dog waste is the reason I am writing you his letter. The majority of pet owners either don’t pick up the waste or when they do, they do not dispose of it properly They just throw it into someone’s trash barrel in a piece of paper or a little bag that is not sealed properly.

Have you ever experienced opening up your trash barrel to take care of your garbage and getting this over powering disgusting odor where you are gagging or about to actually vomit? Well I have, and it’s worse than you can imagine.

I recently took a trip to upstate New York and came across a very practical way of dealing with dog waste. I have enclosed a picture which I believe is self-explanatory. If you would please look into this, it may help solve this problem. I’m not saying it would be 100 percent but anything at this point is an improvement.

Thanking you in advance for reading my letter.

A very concerned citizen
