Why was sticker on Vermont car?

Dear Editor:

This morning January 5th, I saw the first 2004 Hoboken car sticker. I believed from the letter I received to renew my own car parking for 2004, I needed a valid driver’s license from New Jersey with my Hoboken address and a valid car registration with a valid Hoboken address. Am I the only tax paying resident in Hoboken who received such instructions from the Hoboken Parking Authority?

The sticker was 2004 on a green wagon with Vermont license plates…why? I called the Hoboken Parking Authority and was told the council changed the rules (was that for a specific friend of theirs?) And now all one needs is a valid license with a Hoboken address.

This Vermont car is owned by someone other than the resident of Hoboken. So why do we even bother to have any rules since they seem to be adjusted to suit specific people? It is very costly to insure your car in Hoboken, so if this is true, I think we should all drive out-of-state licensed cars for the same ten bucks. Please investigate asap.

Thank you,
Mary Garrity
