Dear Editor:
I recently read the article concerning the ice rink on the Little League field and wanted to reply.
It seems to me that at times politics within the City Council can hold up positive sightings in our community and in this case, it appears that the mayor was able to sidestep the City Council haggling and disagreeing to the point of inaction. He should be applauded instead of slammed. When something is added that is considered a positive attribute in the community it should be held up as an example of things that government can do when it works for the good of the people – all people.
I brought my children to the rink and met many families from all over town. Does the City Council always have to spend its time bashing the Mayor? If it was a negative sighting in the community yes it would have to go through City Council, etc. Spending money on something positive for the community should be commended and not condemned.
