Jingle Bell Rock – 40 times!

Dear Editor:

Having ‘worked’ a craft’s fair here in Hoboken for three weeks, I was ‘bombarded’ by Christmas music. Not that I mind, I love Christmas music. I heard “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman,” ” Home for the Holidays,” “The Chip Monk Song and “Jingle Bell Rock” about 40 times! Rarely did I hear anything pertaining to the Birth of Jesus – what Christmas is all about! Should be all about.

As a boy growing up in the 1960s, I revered Christmas music. Partly because I’m a Christian and partly because it was so beautiful!

I remember as a child in school in about 1966 or ’67, my history teacher told us to put down our books for a moment. We had something new and important to talk about. From now on the media and news stations, etc. had to watch what they say and how they say it. The teacher called it ‘Big Brother.” I ran out of school in horror! I then asked a crossing guard what it all meant; she had no idea. Well at 46, I know what it means!

Our third President Thomas Jefferson wrote that our country should be run by a majority. It seems to me that in 2003 our country, our thoughts and our actions are run by ‘politically correct storm troopers’ — who are a minority!

If I want to put a Nativity Scene or a Frosty the Snowman in my front yard, by gosh, I’m gonna do it!
