Chillin’ at the WB Downtown Hoboken hotspot keeps rolling

One of the coolest places to hangout in downtown Hoboken for out-of-towners has become the WB – or the Whiskey Bar.Drawing weekend crowds, some from Morris and Bergen counties, the WB is living up to the hype by continuing to feature quality original live music with occasional cover bands. This weekend, club goers will enjoy a formidable lineup that includes Ryan Holiday, In Spite Of, and 7 Minds on Thursday (Nov. 20), followed by the chic Hyperactive on Friday, and the loud and heavy Yo Cuz on Saturday.

"We are offering the best possible shows for our audiences," said Jeff Debruycker in a recent interview.

Following the success of the Current‘s bartender contest last summer, where the WB’s Holly Williams came in second place, the place has been hopping recently. All the Bennies have come back from the shore and settled back into their city-mode. In addition to the regular scene, Debruycker has teamed up with producer John Seymour to create live albums of their shows. Live and Loud Vol. 1 was released a few months ago, and Vol. 2 is due out in a few weeks. It will feature local bands like Double Down playing jam rock and some acoustic. Vol. 1 was more plugged in and heavier.

"We want to give Hoboken great original music," Debruycker said.

Holiday, a regular in the Hoboken music scene, has played the WB before and will perform from his album titled Happiness? His music is atmospheric rock with a touch of electronica.

The Whiskey also offers a variety of drink specials and an exciting happy hour. Tuesdays, all drinks and bottles are $3. Friday is "ladies night" and Saturday is "Hobokenight" with a free cover until midnight.

The WB is located at 125 Washington St. in Hoboken. For information call (201) 963-3400 or visit www.whiskey-bar.com. q
