Pizza, pizza! Lower prices for tasty pies

The prime pizzas at La Mia Cucina in Secaucus are experiencing a change. The recipe is still the same, but the prices are lower. For "everyday and forever," a large cheese pizza (16-inches) at La Mia will be $5.99 after 4 p.m. Owner Pasquale Camporeale has heard the people demand lower prices for years and he is finally delivering, he said.

"Due to the struggling economy, we are bringing the price of the best pizza in Secaucus down," Camporeale said.

For seven years La Mia Cucina ("My Cooking" in Italian) has been a Secaucus favorite. The trattoria is also a formidable café with a killer cappuccino and sweet desserts. But the pizza at La Mia has earned praise from many patrons, and Camporeale used to discount it on the weekends.

Since last week, he has featured the lower price while maintaining the same quality. What makes the pizza so popular is its perfect balance of cheese and sweet sauce on soft, light dough. It creates a unique excellent flavor with a few spices to top it all off.

"Our food is one of the best in town," Pasquale said.

In addition to the pizza, the restaurant will continue to feature its expansive menu.

"While visiting our establishment, try our specialty dinners made from the freshest food and ingredients cooked with love, pride and [by] a real Italian chef with 30 years experience," Camporeale said.

Popular entrees on the menu include: veal parmigiana ($12.95), frutta di mare ($15.95), chicken Diavlo ($11.95), and stuffed rigatoni ($8.95).

La Mia Cucina is located at 1259 Paterson Plank Road in Secaucus. It is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. They cater private parties on Sundays. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to enjoy during dinner. For information call (201) 553-9711. q
