‘Jumping to conclusions’

Dear Editor:

That is what I generally do, due to my innate sarcasm, and the insulting nature of the comments that continually gush from the TV.

It was reported that a group of electrical system experts was being assembled to provide energy to the suffering people in Iraq. Backed by the current administration, of course. At first, it warmed the cockles of my heart, then the killjoy in me was triggered off.

It would be stupid and improbable that these experts would chose anything but the latest technology and equipment to juice up Iraq. Nothing but the best, and besides it costs more. We don’t want to be pikers, especially with the whole world watching.

Then it suddenly dawned on me that such a splendorous, newly installed and equipped system would not be susceptible to a blackout in the near future. Immediately I suggested to my wife that she started packing. We are going to Iraq as soon as the lights go on. I’m not about to suffer another failure from a suspect system that evidently exists here. She replied, Ang, I think you’re losing it.
