Thank you to all in the Renal Unit of Bayonne Medical Center for such wonderful care

Dear Editor:

After more than 40 years of dedicated services to Bayonne Medical Center, nurse Barbara Sisolak, RN, will retire from the Renal Unit there. On behalf of all the patients there, I want to say thank you for providing us with the best possible care we could have.

In her 40 years of service, Barbara has seen dramatic changes in the state of dialysis, but in the end, it is the dedicated nurses themselves who make a difficult situation bearable for us. Nurses spend more time with patients than do the doctors…hours at a time. And they could never be compensated enough for the work that they do. So, we the patients want to congratulate Barbara as she begins a new chapter in her life.

As one chapter closes a new one begins for her. With her rich experience, we certainly hope that we won’t lose her service altogether. But as a grandmother expecting yet another grandchild, Barbara will be going into the grand parenting business full time.

I just wanted to let the readers know that we have a gem of a hospital here within our community. Their individual rooms and their individual attention to patients is one of the things that separates this unit from all the others in the county, and given their current plans for expansion, I hope they will continue to bear that in mind.

The Renal Unit under the supervision of Karen Leowy, in the hands of dedicated staff nurses such as Yolanda, Kim, Pat, Grace, Maryann, Karen, Alvidia, Norma, Gloria and many others we are fortunate to have, provides us with life giving care. And let us not forget the ace technician Cedric, who arrives at 4 a.m. to start the machines and to whom all the nurses and patients are grateful, as well as Frank. v I wish to extend a thank you to them all. Bayonne Medical Center is the best that Hudson County as to offer.

Yours truly,
JD deLeon
