Good news for non-residents of Hoboken!

Dear Editor:

The City of Hoboken appears not to enforce resident parking on the evenings and weekends. When the Parking Utility is closed, there is no enforcement. In addition to this part-time parking enforcement, drivers should feel free to park within 25 feet of a crosswalk and 50 feet of a stop sign, because the Hoboken Police Department doesn’t enforce these state safety laws that protect pedestrians and other drivers. So next weekend, don’t worry about getting those visitor permits or having friends park on the “resident only”side of the street, because the city doesn’t care enough about Hoboken residents to enforce their own laws.

Also if you feel that you are above the law and don’t care enough about that mother with the baby in the stroller, go ahead park on that yellow curb, or if you know somebody in City Hall, park in the crosswalk. It’s OK because this is Hoboken where some state laws apply and others don’t. If you care about Hoboken like I do, call the City Director of Safety (Mayor Roberts) and tell him you want Hoboken residents to be first, and you want all state laws enforced by everybody.
