The Summer

The sun is biting
And the people are hiking
Drowsing and napping
The children are at play
For it is a summer day.

The cattle are grazing
The shepherds are raising
The birds are chirping
Th nature is at gay
For it is a summer day.

The fields are green
With cantaloups and beans
Pulses and grains
The harvest is at lay
For it is a summer day.

The people on the roads and resorts
In hotels and motels
Camping and hunting
Fishing in the bay
For it is a summer day.

The joys and woes
Like summer and winter
This life is a chain of happenings
Welded together.
