Spring cleaning event on Central Ave.

Dear Editor:

With the arrival of the spring, many merchants on Central Avenue look to get rid of the old junk that has accumulated during the previous year. In order to accommodate the nearly 500 merchants and property owners on Central Avenue performing spring cleaning, the Central Avenue Special Improvement District Organization (a not-for-profit organization servicing Central Avenue) has coordinated the combined efforts of the Jersey City Incinerator Authority (JCIA) and the Jersey City Parking Authority (JCPA) to bring together the Annual Spring Cleaning Event.

As a benefit of having a Special Improvement District (SID) organization in the community, dumpsters are provided free of charge by the JCIA for three consecutive days. JCIA Administrative Clerk/Operations Director, Kisha Sebron, has worked actively with the Central Avenue SID to provide all available JCIA dumpsters to the locations and days requested. Though minor difficulties arose with timely availability of some dumpsters, Mrs. Sebron made sure all dumpsters were ultimately delivered.

With dumpsters equaling the length of two cars, the JCPA provided the necessary space for the dumpsters on Central Avenue. In an effort to convenience shoppers and merchants during the business hours, JCPA Assistant Director of Enforcement, Michael Gerena, aggressively reserved and kept the strategically designated parking spaces open to allow a place for the dumpsters during this event. Mr. Gerena professionally engaged in frequent communication providing updates to the Central Avenue SID while several minor unexpected problems were promptly worked out.

As the Spring Cleaning Event had such a great participation turnout by the merchants and property owners involved, the Central Avenue SID and the community it serves would like to express our appreciation for this event by thanking JCIA representative Kisha Sebron and JCPA representative Michael Gerena for their job well performed. We would like to thank JCIA CEO Oren K. Dabney and JCPA Executive Director Jimmy King for assigning proficient representatives to the task.

As the Central Avenue SID looks forward to working with the JCIA and JCPA in future events, we hope to see continued professional services from both departments. Please continue with your dedicated services and hard work for our community.
