Dear Editor:
The reason we live in a free society is because for over 250 years we have had men and women that gave their lives to preserve democracy for our country and different countries of the world.
The recent war in Iraq was a huge success for democracy. The people of Iraq no longer live under oppression thanks to the determination of the United States and British troops. The people of Iraq were living in poverty because the national government kept all the revenues. There are many other rich countries around the world that the people live in poverty because the national government is corrupt and keeps people from getting what they have worked for and what they deserve. In all these countries that the government have failed its people, the local, the state, and the national government are all for themselves.
The reason the people of the United States can live a better life than most people of other countries is because at every level whether it’s local, state or federal, the people hold accountable their elected officials.
Here in Union City we are under a local government that makes decisions to better the lives of its people. In the last 20 years property taxes in Union City have gone up over eighty (80) percent. The present local government is working together as a team to make every penny count, so the people can live a better and a more affordable life. The success this local government is having is not by accident. The vision and the determination of Mayor Brian P. Stack and the Board of Commissioners to work hard as a team is why the people of Union City are under sound management representation.
There are 22,000 registered voters in Union City and over 18,000 are Democrats. This primary election offers the opportunity for the people of Union City to vote for Mayor Brian P. Stack who is destined to become an Assemblyman who will deliver so the people of Union City will receive state funds to help with the cost of local government.
In less that two years as Mayor, Brian P. Stack has earned the trust of its constituents. His work ethics are second to none. As a resident of Union City it is my obligation to inform its people that we need a strong voice in Trenton, and Brian P. Stack will bring to Trenton vision, determination and ideas that will benefit the people he will represent.
Respectfully,
Oscar Cordero
