Dear Friend:
Please allow me to take five minutes of your time to introduce myself and explain the reason for this letter.
I have been very much involved in municipal government since I was about 14 years old. Maybe you have heard my name or you have a family member or friend who resides in Union City, where I have had the honor of serving as Mayor since October, 2000.
I know you receive a lot of campaign literature, telephone calls and propaganda from politicians before every election. I try my best to be different and truly represent the residents to the best of my ability.
On June 3, 2003, you will be asked to vote in a Primary Election in which you will select two (2) Assembly members to represent Guttenberg, Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken, West New York and portions of Jersey City. An Assemblyman is your representative on the State level, the individual responsible to bring State funds back to your municipality, to pass legislation that benefits you and most importantly, listen to you on a daily basis.
I am taking this opportunity to ask for your support by voting for me as one of your Assemblymen, along with Assembly Speaker Albio Sires and Senator Bernard Kenny. I know first-hand the problems of your city, as Mayor of a neighboring municipality.
You will get to know that I am a hands-on community activist and elected official. I believe in a strong work ethic, spending at least 16 hours a day working for our community. If I have the honor of representing you as your Assemblyman, you can call me for assistance with any problem, express your views, ask me to introduce legislation that is beneficial to the residents I represent, but, most importantly, you will have another advocate working on your behalf who listens to you. It is my firm belief that it is a benefit to the residents of a legislative district to have a Senator or Assembly member who also serves as a Mayor. The reason I believe this so strongly is that the problems seem so much more realistic when you run a municipality on a day-to-day basis. It gives you an appreciation of why State government must provide more to urban areas like Hudson County. As a responsible Mayor you must make it work. The buck stops with you.
All I ask is to please give me the opportunity to represent you as your next Assemblyman. Most importantly, please call me anytime I can assist you with any problem, not just election time.
If I am elected as your Assembly representative my office will provide full constituent services, and you will have my home and office telephone numbers. I will be the Peoples’ Assemblyman — that I can guarantee!
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. Please vote Column “A” this Tuesday, June 3.
Sincerely,
Brian P. Stack – Assembly Candidate
