HCCC course catalog is now available in Spanish

Dear Editor:

As a member of the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, I am proud to advise our county residents that the new course catalog for Hudson County Community College is now printed in Spanish for our county’s large and growing Hispanic population.

In response to the concerns of many of our Spanish-speaking residents, and working together with Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, his chief of staff Bill Gaughan, all of the members of the Board of Freeholders, and the Hudson County Community College Board of Directors, the Spanish-language course catalog was created.

Also as the Chairman of the Freeholders’ Education Committee, I hope to soon announce, with the cooperation of Freeholder O’Dea and the County Executive, a Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders Scholarship program which will be offered to all Hudson County high school students. This will be a special scholarship for any student who maintains a B or above average and would like to attend the two-year program at Hudson County Community College.

Hopefully, with the support of Executive Tom DeGise and the entire Board of Freeholders, this scholarship will be available for the Fall 2003 semester.

Education is so important to our young people — but access to education is equally important.

Sincerely,
Brian P. Stack
Freeholder
