Dear Editor:
I understand that Goldman Sachs wants to demolish the building that houses the Flamingo Restaurant so drivers can make a right turn from Greene Street onto Montgomery and get to Exchange Place.
Demolition makes no sense.
The Goldman Sachs building is on Hudson and Essex. The Flamingo is six blocks away at Greene and Montgomery (five blocks from Essex and one block from Hudson to Greene).
Even if there are plans to make both Hudson and Greene into one-way streets, there still has to be a better way than Eminent Domain and demolition. How about taking some part of the parking lot on Montgomery just west of the Flamingo?
No demolition required there.
And all this for Goldman Sachs who recently announced that their employees won’t be crossing the river — instead the owners will rent out to others all space in the tallest building in New Jersey.
