Thank you Mayor Stack for improving the quality of life in Union City

Dear Editor:

I want to thank Mayor Brian Stack for all he has done to improve the quality of life in Union City.

A lot of people talk about the quality of life but Mayor Stack understands it. The people of this city want to live in a clean, quiet and safe place. We work hard to pay our rent, mortgages, taxes and our bills. We go to work every day and we want to spend our free time with our families. We want to go to clean parks, we want to walk on clean streets, we want to see police officers on the street, we want to know that if we call for help someone will be there to help us.

We want to be able to shop in our own neighborhood and deal with merchants we know. We want to be able to park our cars while we shop without putting a lot of quarters in the parking meters. Union City has the most inexpensive meters in the area. Not too many towns allow you to park for a whole hour for just 25 cents in clean and secure municipal parking lots.

Mayor Stack recently reorganized the police department to put more officers on patrol and he stationed an ambulance in the uptown section of the city so that uptown residents who are sick don’t have to wait for an ambulance to come through traffic from 16th Street. Now there are ambulances stationed downtown and uptown.

We want to enjoy a night’s sleep without being woken up by people leaving the bars at 3 a.m. on the weekends.

We want landlords to be held accountable for the quality of their buildings and the safety of their tenants. One bad building can bring down an entire neighborhood.

All of these things and more contribute to the quality of life of a city and Mayor Stack is working on all of these things and more for us. Thank you Mayor Stack. You have my support and the support of all Union City residents who truly want a better quality of life for their town.
