Keeping Dr. King alive in Hoboken

Dear Editor:

It gives us great pleasure to invite all to a community-wide event in celebration of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Please join us in showing the children of Hoboken that they belong to a secure community united in commitment to a just and humane world by joining with fellow citizens for the following activity, which is being co-sponsored by the Hoboken Charter School and the Hoboken Rotary Club:

The Sights and Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement: Monday, January 20, 4 to 7:30 p.m., All Saints Parish, 707 Washington St. Come enjoy this celebratory event featuring videos, film clips, poetry, dramatic readings and performances of gospel and freedom songs. Each visitor, young and old, will also be invited to “create a button for peace” to be worn in honor of Dr. King and the many people who fought for civil rights in this country. Visitors will also be encouraged to “get involved” by learning more about a variety of community based organizations that depend on volunteer support.

Heed the call of Martin Luther King, Jr. by marching with your community on January 20 and by using his birthday not as Day Off but as a Day On!
