Lott’s comments were in reality a ‘Freudian Slip’

Dear Editor:

All comments from every philosophic sphere, have commented on Trent Lott’s blurb but all had been political rhetoric.

The real picture is as follows, and I’m amazed nobody labeled it what in reality should be titled a ‘Freudian Slip.’

The conscious mind suffers a temporary lapse and caught off guard, lets secrets held in check by the censorship in the unconscious mind, escape.

Mr. Lott was brought up in a racist area and country generally, and very few of us escape our childhood up-bringing and indoctrination. I believe at heart he will always remain a racist but as typical of all politicians always modifies his public statements for self-serving interests — “White man speaks with forked tongue.”

The shock of his having to eventually step down will either, destructively make him a bitter confirmed racist or if fortunate, contractively, learn a lesson by the loss and become more tolerant that the world is big enough to house all of us.
