Jamming away Bob Delevante performs at Goldhawk Dec. 6

Best known as one half of the brother duo the Delevantes, Bob Delevante is coming to Hoboken to share his latest tales of love, growing up and life on the road.

Raised in Rutherford, Delevante now lives in Nashville, Tenn. In 1998 he released Postcards From Along the Way with Capitol Records, and several years later he released Porchlight with Relay Records.

Music is Delevante’s passion. He continues to reward listeners by writing stories that people care about, with melodies and arrangements that stay true to his influences from New Jersey and New York City musicians. On Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. he will perform at the Goldhawk in Hoboken. We recently talked to Delevante to catch up with the artist:

EM – Do you enjoy performing in Hoboken?

BD – I love performing in Hoboken because it’s sort of home for me. I live in Nashville now but still travel there to write quite a bit. Many of the characters in my songs are from Hoboken so it always feels good to come back and play for the folks who live there.

EM – What is your latest project?

BD – I’m working on a new record tentatively titled Columbus and the Colossal Mistake. One of the reasons for this trip is to try out some of the new songs live with a band.

EM – How would you describe your music?

BD – I guess you could say it’s acoustic based, singer-songwriter. I seem to fall into the cracks where many other writers land in between country, folk and rock. Right now they’re calling the genre Amerciana music.

EM – Who are your musical inspirations?

BD – My family. Anything I see happening around me. Right now my kids seem to be a never ending source of inspiration. As for musical inspirations…Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Nick Lowe, Chuck Berry, John Prine, The Byrds, Gram Parsons, and the list goes on.

EM – What are your professional plans in the near future?

BD – I hope to have my new CD completed and out by spring. Then do some touring to support the record.
