Dear Editor:
Monday was Veteran’s Day. I was on my way to my heart doctor. We passed the WTC where it once stood. They had the light on for memories of heroes who lost their lives. It was a rainy day but it did not keep people away. Yes we stopped and paid our respects and prayed to remember the thousands of heroes who died and did not know what hit them. Just like that Sunday morning, the attack on Pearl Harbor, we lost many lives. The enemy destroyed our vision but with our greatness, we were too much to keep down. Our country is ready for Saddam Hussein and that terrorist leader Bin Laden who will try to destroy America’s armed forces. We are a nation of strength and pride because we want to live in peace.
As senior citizens we are dealing with problems like health care without prescription drug benefits; clearly the population of seniors as a rule need help. We must fight harder for our coverage of health benefits. Yes, Congress went home to campaign and forgot the senior citizens but at election time, they are at our front door, promise you the world; vote for me and I will help you with your coverage of benefits which we need! I encourage you to make sure your voice is heard by our state legislators and be concerned about this, and let your congressman and U.S. Senate know, I’ll vote for you now, help seniors. I say to our new House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi, protect our Social Security, don’t let them invest our money in stocks or bonds because we earn it the hard way. We have an economy that struggles. We need careful consideration from Congress. Mrs. Nancy Pelosi, we need your leadership in Washington for achievement and being elected is a privilege. We all support your vision and pride!
