Thank you all who attended the voter registration party

Dear Editor:

As a member of the Hoboken Hospitality Association and the New Jersey Restaurant Association I would like to thank everyone who attended the recent voter registration party at The Bar at 10th and Willow. The event was sponsored by the Hoboken Hospitality Association and Hoboken Common Sense.

It was very gratifying to see so much enthusiasm and interest in this event. We registered 114 new Hoboken voters in only three hours. This was very gratifying as the ability to vote provides the most powerful voice we as citizens possess. The act of registering to vote empowers us to be heard in elections to come.

I would like to thank Mayor David Roberts and the city council members and city officials who attended the event and took the time to meet with the newly registered voters. It is important that our elected officials understand the desires of our newest residents, and that our residents have the opportunity to meet their elected officials.

The Hoboken Hospitality Association and Hoboken Common Sense will continue to hold voter registration drives at HHA member establishments in the months leading to the May 2002 municipal elections.

The HHA has a vested interest in Hoboken’s future as the food service industry is undoubtedly Hoboken’s largest retail employer. The HHA, which includes restaurants, bars and food industry suppliers and purveyors, is committed to Hoboken. This city has very good to many of us.

Likewise, we share Mayor Roberts’ vision in preserving the quality of life for all our residents, and the HHA is more than willing to work with the Administration in achieving this and other goals which benefit the community as a whole.

Again, many thanks to all those who participated in the event, and we look forward to registering many new voters in the months to come.
