A day at West Point Gaslight celebrates patriotism with Army football trip Oct. 26

Keep patriotism alive with a trip to West Point, N.Y. on Oct. 26 to watch the United States Military Academy’s football team play against longtime rival University of Alabama (Birmingham).

Sponsored by the Gaslight Restaurant, Bar and Lounge in Hoboken, the trip is a daylong event complete with an elegant breakfast, pre-game fun, the football game and an open bar at the restaurant.

"The West Point campus is gorgeous, and the day will be spent with friends, drinks and excellent food," said Claude Persico, Gaslight manager. "We are offering the best service to our customers while taking them to a fantastic college football game."

The event will be the Gaslight’s first annual college football tailgate party. Army takes on UAB at 1 p.m. at Michie Stadium on the campus at 600 Thayer Rd in West Point. The breakfast starts at 8 p.m. and it includes eggs, sausage, bacon, French toast, Danishes, bagels, muffins and orange juice. A luxury bus will leave shortly after breakfast and travel to West Point. The party will continue on the bus and once on the campus, there will be a tailgate party, followed by the game.

"We have good seats. This is 12 hours of food, fun and drinks" said proprietor John Martello. "Enjoy college football Gaslight style. We offer only the best."

When the game is over, patrons will ride back to the mile-square city and enjoy two hours of open bar. The event is $150 per person. Tickets are selling fast, according to Persico, and people must provide a 50 percent non-refundable deposit to secure a spot for the trip.

The Gaslight is a hidden treasure in the mile-square city’s booming downtown residential area on the corner of Adams and Fourth streets. Patrons come to the Gaslight for the exciting bar scene, attentive service, and amazing entrees. Tuesdays the venue features Team Trivia, a quiz game that offers prizes and the chance to win tickets for a dinner cruise. And every Wednesday night is Martini Madness. Every martini purchased at the bar is half its original price.

The Gaslight is located at 400 Adams St. They are open seven days a week. Lunch is served Thursdays and Fridays, catering is available on and off premises, and they offer all the Yankee baseball games, along with drink specials. Thursday is ladies night, all nights drinks are $2 for ladies.
