Before my eyes could spy
A winged flutter did I hear
A little egg was protected by
Parents who were near
Sheltered under arbor leaves
Alert yet in repose
Two birds wait expectantly
Life’s miracle to show
Tell me why they’re keen to wait
Why their eyes are bright
Tell me why it is men hate
Why their eyes squint tight
Doves in natures rhythm
Bring life into the world
Man for base ambition
