NASCAR racing would put NJ back on the map!

Dear Editor:

The article about the proposed NASCAR track in the Meadowlands that appeared in the Sept. 15 edition of the Reporter illustrated to me the quixotic posturing of our elected officials that is so abundant around voting time.

Listening to the Secaucus residents complain that the track would bring noise to their neighborhoods made me laugh aloud. Secaucus is dissected by the NJ Turnpike and Route 3, which already generates noise galore. Add to that the trucking, warehouse and DMV traffic, and you have an area that is awash in noise. A revenue generating NASCAR track would hardly be heard amidst this existing background.

I have chosen to live in the most densely populated part of the most densely populated state in the nation.

I was and am ready to accept certain things that come with the territory. Our elected officials are tyring to come to the rescue in a case where none is needed.

The Nets and Devils are all but gone. NASCAR racing would put NJ on the national map and bring in far more fan dollars than anything a mega-mall would bring in.
