Where is Tommy Driscoll when you need him?

Dear Editor:

As I make my daily walk through Journal Square to the PATH train, I am amazed what I see on the New York side as I leave the PATH train. The Herald Square Park is cleaned daily, and the cops chase the bums away so workers can have their morning coffee in peace and tranquility.

The Jersey City side is another tale to say the least. Horrific and total breakdown in a major transportation hub of Jersey City. The homeless have taken over every sitting area in Journal Square. The six million dollars spent to redo the Square has totally been wasted from the damage done in the six months since the ending of the restoration corporation. My wife and mother are afraid to walk to the PATH train unless I walk them.

I have read in this paper that city officials believe there are no problems in Journal Square. I beg to differ. We need the police presence like we had when I was a kid when a big cop named Tommy Driscoll patrolled the Square. He walked around like John Wayne and made sure order was the law of the day.
