Museum passes at the library – free!

Dear Editor:

The Friends of the Hoboken Public Library are pleased to boast about our latest gift to the library – free museum passes. We have purchased family memberships to the American Museum of Natural History ( in New York City) and to Liberty Science Center (in Jersey City). Library patrons can check these memberships out just as they do books and other materials, becoming, in effect, members of the institution for the day they have the card. These membership cards, which cannot be reserved in advance at this time, may be checked out for a one day and returned on the next business day. For more information on how to check out a pass, please call or visit the library (201 420-2280 / 500 Park Ave.). The benefits of each institution include: American Museum of Natural History: free admission for two adults and up to four children; discounts on the Space Show, IMAX theater and special exhibitions; and discounts on museum shops, restaurant purchases and museum programs. In addition, the Library will receive Natural History magazine, Rotunda (the museum’s newsletter for members), and the Museum Calendar. Liberty Science Center: free admission to LSC’s exhibit floor for two adults and up to four children; discounts for IMAX films and the 3-D laser show; and a 10% discount on store purchases. Please take advantage of these memberships. The Friends are a non-profit of library lovers who raise money to purchase certain items not included in the Library’s regular budget, to sponsor special programs that complement the Library’s own programs and services, and to raise pubic awareness of what our Library has to offer.
