Dear Editor:
We are giving our complete support and recommending Bernard M. Hartnett Jr. for County Executive in the June 4th Democratic Primary Election. Bernie Hartnett is what Hudson County needs today, because of yesterday, to be ready for tomorrow. Now that may sound like mumbo-jumbo, but let me explain. The County Government was shrouded under a veil of suspicion, corruption and political improprieties by the resignation of the prior County Executive. Bernie Hartnett was asked and accepted the office last year, not as a politician, but as a man with a life long reputation for honesty, integrity and the ability necessary to set goals and get the job done. The job was to keep order in the County, clean up impropriates, and reorganize County Government into an efficient organization. Bernie Hartnett is not looking for a higher political office, or to grab power or even to remain the County Executive for a long time. All he is looking for is to use the one more year before a regular election is held to finish the job he was asked to do. A lot of politicians who asked him to do the job are now against him, that’s probably because he’s doing too good a job — cleaning up thing they want left alone. But we the people of Hudson deserve this chance for real honest change. Let’s give Bernie Hartnett that chance.
Bernie Hartnett is truly a life-long Democrat not like his opponent who, with two of his Freeholder candidates abandoned the Democratic Party last year to support a Republican for state-wide office.
You know that old saying You don’t change horses mid-stream. I believe we need Bernie Hartnett right now. Come out and vote June 4th to really clean up Hudson County Government.
