Need more explanation from Hine

Dear Editor:

Let me begin by saying that The Coalition for a Better Waterfront has done some great things for our city. For over a decade its members’ actions and policies aided in preserving Hoboken’s waterfront for public access. I supported them for many years. In fact, it was the CBW that registered me to vote in Hoboken.

But, today I have to question why its leaders (Ron Hine) are opposing the placement of the Stevens Waterfront Estuary and Marine lab?

It’s hard to believe this is the same Ron Hine who was among those who supported the construction of a 7000 sq. ft./2 story seafood restaurant and catering hall east of the walkway directly on Pier A when he sat on the former Mayor’s waterfront advisory board. Mr. Hine for the benefit of the public, maybe you could enlighten us into your conflicting rationale.

It’s time we as a community start thinking in more creative ways and listening to more people about what they want on their waterfront. I’m sure it will be to the surprise of a few that Mr. Hine’s narrow vision isn’t one of them.
