A “defensive” idea

Dear Editor:

All the world justifies unlimited rights for a nation to build weaponry for home defense and national security. We frown upon offensive weapons in any form.

Realistically, the only effective, defensive weapons must be based on the extent of defensive weapons that very other nations possesses. The ultimate goal is to protect against whatever an offensive country can launch.

We are ready to bomb Iraq under the excuse that they will not let inspectors examine their arsenal.

The solution is so simple it’s laughable.

Just notify Iraq that they can have full access to our arsenals if they will allow their arsenals to be examined . After all, all nations believe their arms are to defend against oppression, and therefore fit the label of defensive. Sounds like a sensible approach and likely to prevent a potential world wide war.

I’m sure we have such far-seeing expert diplomats and statesmen in the U.S.A. that they will immediately adopt and implement this approach. Yeah!
