Candidate introduces herself

Dear Editor:

Many families in Hoboken know me through my involvement in the schools our children attend. For those in our community who I haven’t had the chance to meet yet, I would like to introduce myself. I am a candidate for the Hoboken Board of Education. My decision to seek a position as a Board Member arises from my interest as a parent to ensure that our children’s needs are met. I believe this can be accomplished through constructive parental and community involvement. If we are to have confidence in educational decisions, we need to be included in those decisions. It is necessary to find effective ways to work with Board members to better understand the needs of students and families in the Hoboken District. Public school education is an important part of American life. It is valued as an essential element of a democracy and for the richness in diversity it offers our children. All children should be given the opportunity to reach their maximum potential.

I am committed to work hard for all the children in our schools and I ask for your support to give me the opportunity to do so.
