911 remembered

Dear Editor:

The article by Caren Lissner on “Coming Out of Shock” is very poignant. My heart goes out to the four young women (and all) who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks. I admire their courage and pray for them when they need to grieve; they’re entitled. Those who tell them to “snap out of it” just don’t get it. Grieve when necessary. But also, when you feel a smile in your being, let it shine; this smile is your loved one.

Mayor Bloomberg of NY said, so aptly during the six month anniversary service, that each of us must ask ourselves what those who perished on 9/11 would want us to do to make the world a better place. We all bear a responsibility to answer this question.

My prayer is that you will 1) write your memoirs and the first and last sentence should be the last sentence of the above-mentioned article (“We’re still absolutely in love with them.”), and 2) seek out another 9/11 family member to join your group, particularly a child.

And thanks to this paper for covering this story. We must never forget!
