News & Notes

Sept. 11 Memorial Fund

I am pleased to introduce News & Notes, an occasional column from the Hoboken September 11th Memorial Fund committee. This column will be an important part of our efforts to keep Hoboken and other communities around the state informed about the status of The Hoboken September 11th Memorial Fund.

Although the goal of The Fund is to build a permanent, life-affirming memorial on Hoboken’s waterfront, its true purpose is to facilitate a community healing process. To accomplish this goal, we have planned various events that we hope will serve as opportunities for our community to come together to remember and heal, as well as to raise funds for a memorial.

Another important goal of The Fund is community involvement. When the memorial is finally built, we want every Hoboken resident to feel that they were a part of the process. In addition to raising funds, we need volunteers to formulate new ideas for community events and to help make them happen. We strongly encourage anyone who is interested in becoming involved with The Fund to contact my office at (201) 420-2013.

Thank you again, and I look forward to working alongside you as we undertake this process together as a community.
