Tips For First-Timer Visiting a Clothing Optional Resort

The following was sent to us from the American Association for Nude Recreation

Always Have a Towel Handy – The #1 rule when visiting a clothing-optional resort is to have a towel with you at all times for sitting and lounging in common areas, as well as covering up before entering non clothing-optional designated areas.

Bring a Wrist Pack – Nude recreation does not leave many options for carrying those items commonly necessary to have with you at all times. Wrist packs are a nudist’s solution to carrying such items as money, keys, sun block, etc.

Sun-Safety – No one is more aware of the harmful effects of the sun than a nudist. When visiting a nudist resort do not forget to bring sun block and lots of it. Remember you should regularly apply protection to all those areas exposed to the sun.

Always Get Permission Before Taking Photographs or Video – Many people visit clothing-optional resorts to benefit from the relaxing atmosphere and wonderful stress-relief found in freedom of nude recreation. Some come to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and privacy found at a clothing-optional resort. When taking pictures of family and friends on a nude beach or at a clothing-optional resort, respect the privacy of others and ask permission before snapping photos.

Dress Before Leaving Clothing-Optional Areas – Nudists are good neighbors and respect the fact that while nude recreation may be the choice of some it is not the choice of everyone. That is why it is important to check for signs/markers for clothing-optional and non clothing-optional areas and always be prepared to cover up.

Nudity on Your First Visit – When visiting a clothing optional resort for the first time, remember nude recreation is a personal choice. If you visit a clothing-optional resort you are not required to be nude the first time. Although it is expected that you will want to shed your clothes (and your stress), it is not required.

Pack Less … Relax More – When preparing to go on vacation, packing can add stress to your trip before you depart. For a clothing-optional vacation, however, lightweight, small travel bag is all that is needed. Remember bring two towels per person (one to carry with you at all times, and a second one for the pool), sun block, any athletic equipment and shoes, toiletries, and a cover-up for chilly days/nights or when you’ve had too much sun.
