Don’t let ‘gangs’ ruin our neighborhoods

Dear Editor:

A few days ago after school a student in Union City had a tooth knocked out by a gang believed to be from West New York. On the night of December 7 on a residential street in Hoboken I saw about 30 kids who were loudly threatening people. Several people contacted the police, and they came right away.

Neighbors, if you see gangs of kids roaming your block shouting threats, contact the Hoboken police immediately. If you are threatened, give a good description and insist that you want the person charged.

There are gangs trying to make inroads here. If we all stick together and the police arrest them, they won’t be able to spread. If people hide from it or just try to break them up temporarily, then kids here will fear them and be pressured to join. Don’t let them ruin your neighborhood.
