Senior citizens give the gift of love!

Dear Editor:

On Sunday morning I watch talk shows on television of all candidates that are running for public office. They all pledge their opinions on issues with vision of success.

As a senior citizen and former chairman and commissioner on senior affairs in Jersey City, I believe health benefits are extremely important to the safeguard of all the population for seniors to live with dignity and independence. And to all politicians, be visible. This means compassion, value and principle, and telling the truth to all senior citizens with an agenda. Please don’t touch our social security. That’s called a dream of peace; that’s a great feeling of satisfaction to live with.

I know many senior citizens will never forget September 11, the day the terrorists struck the World Trade Center. They share the sadness of the community in mourning that loss of loved ones.

I am a veteran of World War II, having served in Germany. I was one of the lucky soldiers to come home. I have one thing to say. I believe if you tell the truth, you don’t need a good memory!

Happy holidays to all men and women who are serving in our Armed Forces. And God Bless America.

Louis V. Saliceti

Former Chairman on Senior Affairs
