Schundler is our only option for governor

Dear Editor:

Recently I read that some State Government official, who had been hired not long ago by Acting Governor Donald DiFrancesco’s staff had been fired after a few days on the job for having leaked out old financial figures about Jersey City. The said records, which turned out to be factually wrong anyhow, were intended to taint former Jersey City Mayor Bret Schundler’s administrative reputation.

Surprise, surprise, then it was discovered that the said State functionary had longstanding ties with Mr. McGreevey, the Mayor of Woodbridge, and the repeat, uninspiring gubernatorial candidate of the Democratic party.

As we know, Schundler won the gubernatorial nomination of the GOP party in last June’s primaries, despite having been opposed by the Republican establishment. But the people spoke, and Bret, coming from heavily urban and ethnically diverse Jersey City, won the nomination and is now ready to win the general election and assume the Governorship.

But the real question is not why the said bureaucrat was fired for wrongdoing but why he hired to begin with, by the presumably Republican administration of DiFrancesco, despite the bureaucrat’s clear links to various deals with McGreevey. It is a shame that the entrenched Trenton establishment cares more about its vested interests than improving the lives of the people of New Jersey.

With all the safety issues suddenly arising in America, and the corporation scandals with the Hudson Democrats, I am convinced that Bret Schundler is in reality the only viable option we have for Governor.
