We should stand by Bush

Dear Editor:

Total support. Thursday night was the night our President George W. Bush gave a speech to the United States Congress. This was a speech that changed the thinking of the World forever; also one that made me especially proud to be an American! Although it brought back Patriotism and unity, that, in my opinion, was declining in this Country before this attack; it left me with a feeling of anxiousness and thoughts of what this Country would have become if the President did not give this particular speech. I’m sure this speech wasn’t an easy one for President Bush; at times during it, he needed to briefly stop and regain his thoughts as he realized the impact of the words and the content of his intentions.

What we need to do in this Country today is to stand by the actions of our leaders and trust them to make all the right decisions. Let’s not make another mistake like we did during the Viet Nam War and divide the country. It is imperative that we stand united in this effort to thwart terrorism. The men and women that will be going over to these foreign lands, to bring to justice the animals that orchestrated these atrocities, will need the total support of this entire nation and not have to worry about the division of the Country that they will be so valiantly trying to defend. Let’s not tie the hands of the people that are fighting for our freedom. I have two young sons that may be called to serve our Country in time of need, and I’d like to think that if they get called to these foreign lands, America would be behind them 100 percent.

I’m writing this letter from experience, I spent a year and a half fighting with the Mraine Corps in Viet Nam back in 1968/69. It was though then, trying to do what our Country asked us to do, while we were getting reports of how the nation was divided back home. We cannot do that again to these young men and women that will be called to serve during the aftermath of the assault on our Country. The United States of America stands United today, we must not lose this momentum; there is a long road ahead, and we must focus on the task to be done!

God Bless America, Stand Beside Her and Guide Her.
